Things to Do in Flagstaff in October: Last Wednesday Markets, Halloween Weekend and the Switch to Sundays
October 15, 2026 · Mountain-Town Market
October is the hinge of the Flagstaff year. The aspens on the Peaks have turned and mostly dropped, the mornings are frosty, the afternoons are still warm enough for a market on the square, and the first real snow can show up any week. For the Mountain-Town Market it is the month the summer editions wrap up and the winter one begins. Here is how to spend the rest of October in Flagstaff, built around the market days left on the calendar.
The last two Wednesdays at Heritage Square
The Wednesday Market at Heritage Square has two dates left in 2026: Wednesday, October 21 and Wednesday, October 28, 3 pm to dusk, at 22 E Aspen Ave in the middle of downtown. It is run with the Downtown Flagstaff Business Alliance and admission is free. Dusk comes early now, so the market is at its best in the first two hours, while the light is still on the brick.
Parking is the one thing to plan. Downtown street meters are $2 an hour and enforced until 5 pm Sunday through Thursday, and the City Hall lot two blocks west at 211 W Aspen Ave is free after 5 pm. Come at 3 and feed a meter, or come at 5, park in the lot and walk over.
Heritage Square is also where the Route 66 Walking Tour of Flagstaff meets, at the flagpole on the square. It runs in the evening, with the start time on its booking calendar, so on a market Wednesday you can shop first and then join a 90-minute walk through the downtown blocks the Mother Road runs through. After October 28 the Wednesday market goes quiet until late May 2027.
Saturday, October 17: two markets in one morning
The 17th is a double market day. The Pine Forest Saturday Market runs 9 am to 1 pm in the Pine Forest Charter School lot at 2257 E Cedar Ave, at the corner of Fourth Street and Cedar on the east side. Downtown, the City Hall Saturday Market with C.A.T.s of Flagstaff runs 10 am to 3 pm in the City Hall lot at 211 W Aspen Ave. The two are a short drive apart, so you can do the east side first and finish downtown.
The City Hall Saturdays are a short 2026 series run together with Community Assistance Teams (C.A.T.s) of Flagstaff, whose mobile shower bus serves neighbors experiencing homelessness; vendor fees from these markets support that work. The City Hall lot is free to park in on weekends, and leashed, friendly dogs are welcome.
If a Saturday morning downtown is the plan, the Flagstaff Mural Tour meets at the Orpheum Theatre on Aspen Avenue, a block from the lot, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings at 10. It is a 90-minute walk past the downtown murals, and it ends while the Saturday market is still going.
Halloween weekend: the season's last Saturday
Saturday, October 31 is Halloween and the last Saturday market day of 2026, twice over. The Pine Forest Saturday Market closes its season with a final 9 am to 1 pm market, and the C.A.T.s Saturday market at the City Hall lot runs 10 am to 3 pm. After that, Saturday markets return in May 2027.
Downtown after dark in Halloween week has a ready-made plan. The Downtown Flagstaff Haunted History Tour from Freaky Foot Tours meets at Wheeler Park, 212 W Aspen Ave, the lawn beside the City Hall lot, and walks the Hotel Monte Vista, Orpheum and Weatherford blocks. It runs nightly, with a second departure on Fridays and Saturdays, so check its calendar before the weekend.
Sunday, November 1: the market comes back to City Hall
The morning after Halloween, the Sunday Markets at City Hall open for the season: Sunday, November 1, 9 am to 1 pm, in the City Hall lot at 211 W Aspen Ave. Every Sunday in November is a market day after that. Admission is free, parking in the lot is free on weekends, and leashed dogs are welcome at the City Hall Sunday markets.
Wheeler Park sits directly across Aspen Avenue from the lot, a wide lawn with a clear view of the San Francisco Peaks on a blue-sky morning. If you are unsure which weekend is which, the this weekend page lists every Mountain-Town Market day in the next seven days, Flagstaff and Tempe both.
Ahead: the Holiday Market in December
Put December 5 and 6 on the calendar now. The Holiday Market at the Coconino Center for the Arts, 2300 N Fort Valley Rd, runs Saturday and Sunday, 10 am to 4 pm both days, with the market's Native and local artisans, makers and food producers in a holiday setting. Admission is free. It is a different event from the winter market at the City Hall lot the same weekend, which is run by a different organization, so double-check the address.
